My name is Gil Amaral and I work @ the Fishers Island School, that is located on Fishers Island, New York. We have established this blog to communicate with our friends on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. This is also an island that has much in common with us. We are trying to get our students to use a webcam,skype, or e-mail method of communication as the mail is quite slow. We also hope that the students and staff on Isla will also want to do the same to improve their English skills as we improve our Spanish skills. I visited the island last spring and loved it and the people I met. We stayed on Playa Norte @ Na Balam and traveled each day to many beautiful and tranquil spots on Isla. Though I do not live on Fishers Island, I think one of our prettiest beaches is Isabella beach. We also have some of the most beautiful views from our two golf courses. We look forward to hearing from folks.

We are so happy to have finally come up with a plan to communicate w/ our new friends on Isla. We actually have called the school and will now send them a webcam attachment for a computer so that our Spanish speaking students can communicate real time with the students @ EST Numero Uno. At present, we have posted some Halloween photos to our website @ www.fischool.com with an explanation in Spanish. In turn, the EST students will post photos of their "feast of the dead" holiday. As soon as the webcam arrives on Isla, we look forward to having some "real time" conversations with students as well.
